We love our fruits and vegetables, and we want you to love them too!
Let food be thy medicine. -Hippocrates
We believe that the best thing you can do for your health is to eat "real food": fruits, vegetables and other single-ingredient foods. Our culture has lost sight of what healthy food is. Our grandmothers knew we needed to eat vegetables, but through the generations we have forgotten. Eating a whole food, plant-based diet is one of the best things you can do to reduce your risk of disease and to improve your health if you are already suffering. We want you to be your healthiest you. Our mission is to grow real food, and we grow it for you.
what is real food?
Real food is unprocessed or minimally processed whole food. To check if your food is real, read the ingredient list. If there is no ingredient list, it is probably real food. An apple is an apple. If there is an ingredient list and there's something in it that you cannot pronounce, then it is probably not real food. Even "organic" does not mean real food. There are large supermarket sections devoted to organic foods, and a lot of it is not real. It's highly processed frozen or shelved boxes of "food", containing preservatives and additives to keep it edible in your cupboard or freezer for months. One final test of real food is the spoil test. If you leave it on your counter, will it turn a funny color and start to smell after a week or so? Real food rots and will decay after time. Fake food is packaged in a container and will last for a year on your counter. So that is our definition of real food. One final word: don't worry how you prepare it. No matter if you eat it raw or cooked, you are eating valuable vitamins, minerals, and other yet-to-be-identified beneficial substances when you eat vegetables. Do not worry about the specifics of eating real food, because all that matters is that you eat it.
